The day 1 of the 2nd Test has come to an end with India slightly ahead on the day at 336-6. The Indians will be happy, but the visitors are still in the game and can make a come back.

The first day of the of the 2nd Test between India and England in the 5 match Test series ended with India being slightly in control. Even though there were some unnecessary fall of wickets in the innings the Indians still managed to  stay afloat on 336-6 at the end of day 1. Tomorrow will be the day the Indians will have to increase this total to a very big one to put the visitors under pressure straight away. With Jaiswal and Ravichandran Ashwin at the crease, there is a chance of India taking control of the game and keep the English bowlers at bay.

To talk about the England bowlers, the Joe Root experiment failed terribly on this occasion as his off spinners were taken apart in this innings. James Anderson still looked good in the middle and bowled some great spells. The wicket of Shubman Gill showed everyone that even at the age of 41 the star pacer is still someone to watch out for. As for the other spinners Shoaib Bashir still managed to pick a couple of wickets despite being slightly expensive and Rehan Ahmed still bowled a great spell  and managed to get a couple of break through’s as well. The Test match still is slightly in the balance where the England team can still make a bit of a come back in the 2nd day tomorrow.

Yashasavi Jaiswal shows his class

The star of the day was none other than the young Indian southpaw Yashasavi Jaiswal, who scored a terrific century and is still unbeaten on a score of 179 of 257 deliveries at the end of day 1. This was a slightly different approach from the batter than he showed in the first match, but he still showed his flamboyant nature as well. His consisted of 17 fours and 5 sixes. There was no England bowler who had any idea what to bowl to him as he looked to punish anything that was slightly lose and showed respect to the good balls.

This innings from Jaiswal has kept them in a really good position to put up a big total on the board and it will also give a lot of confidence to the young player. Jaiswal with this innings is showing everyone why he is the next big thing in cricket right now. He is capable of playing the elegant and the aggressive shots at will. It will be interesting to see what his plan for the next day will be to build his innings and get his team to very big score maybe above 450. The game is not yet over with still a lot of days left and both the teams will look to get the better of each other.
