In the third and final T20I against South Africa at New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, India aimed for a comeback after losing the second match. In the game, South African captain Aiden Markram won the toss and opted to bowl. Despite a brisk start from openers Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal, Keshav Maharaj's quick dismissals of Gill and Tilak Varma tilted the game.

But then it was skipper Suryakumar Yadav coming in at number four played a pivotal role and formed a crucial partnership with Jaiswal. After a steady start, Suryakumar accelerated in the 13th over, smashing three sixes and a four to complete his half-century in 32 balls. The number one ranked T20I batter continued to dominate, shifting gears after Jaiswal's dismissal. With some sheer power hitting, Suryakumar eventually reached his remarkable century in just 56 balls.

This is the fourth century for the Indian skipper in T20Is, putting him in an elite club alongside Rohit Sharma and Glenn Maxwell. During his innings, Suryakumar also surpassed Virat Kohli for the second-highest number of sixes in T20Is by an Indian batter, now hitting 123.
