As the cricketing caravan moves forward, all eyes are now on Shami's expected role in India's upcoming two-match Test series against South Africa. Scheduled to kick off with a boxing day match on December 26 in Centurion, followed by the second game in Cape Town on January 3.

Overview of the 12-Member Committee for Sports Awards

The Sports Ministry has constituted a 12-member committee to decide on this year's sports awards, including the Arjuna Award. Retired Supreme Court Justice AM Khanwilkar will be at the helm of the committee, overseeing the decision-making process.

Heading the committee, Justice AM Khanwilkar brings a wealth of experience and a keen understanding of the legal and sports landscape. Alongside him, six former international athletes contribute their expertise to the decision-making process.

This illustrious panel includes hockey player Dhanraj Pillay, former paddler Kamlesh Mehta, ex-boxer Akhil Kumar, women shooter and current national coach Shuma Shirur, former cricketer Anjum Chopra, badminton player Tripti Murgunde, and powerlifter Farman Pasha.
