Shami’s journey from a village boy to National hero
Shami grew up in Uttar Pradesh, where he didn't get much opportunity. He gradualy moved to Calcutta, where he played national-level cricket for Bengal before breaking into the Indian team. Despite his rising popularity, Shami remains grounded and enjoys simple pleasures like traveling, fishing, and driving. He recently shared his love for driving bikes and cars, admitting that he now avoids bikes due to potential injuries.
Shami remembers his roots well, recalling his days driving tractors, buses, and even a truck in his village. He vividly describes one incident where he accidentally drove their tractor into a pond, earning him a reprimand from his father.
In an interview with Puma, Shami said, “I like traveling, fishing. I like driving a lot. I like driving bike and cars. But after playing for India, I have stopped driving bikes. What if I get injured? I drive bike on highways when I go to meet my mom in the village," Mohammed Shami said on PUMA's YouTube channel.
"Zameen se hi aaya hu. Kheto ki jo booghi hoti hai, I have driven tractor, bus, trucks. One of my school friends had a truck in his house. He told me to drive. I was small then and was driving on a ground. I drove our tractor into the pond too. My father scolded me,” he reiterated.
