The hosts Lahore Qalandars won the toss and chose to bat first against Quetta Gladiators in the fourth match of the Pakistan Super League 2024. Pakistan batter Sahibzada Farhan was at his blistering best once again as he held the home team’s innings. His knock of 62 runs from 43 balls was essential in the Qalandars notching up a decent score on the board.

Jahandad Khan was also influential in leading Qalandars towards a competitive score with his outstanding ball-striking. Apart from these two batters, no other batter was able to find success with the bat. With the kind of batting depth the Qalandars possessed, they would be disappointed after registering a score of 188 runs on this flat wicket.

The Gladiators were able to chip in with some crucial wickets at regular intervals. If a partnership grew longer, they would have been in heaps of trouble. On this wicket, the spinners may need to target stumps more frequently if they are to experience success. The pacers found the longer length to be significantly more successful than the shorter length.

Quetta Gladiators go on top of the PSL 9 table!

The total of 187 was always going to be a walk in the park for Quetta Gladiators. On this flat wicket, the opening pair of Saud Shakeel and Jason Roy started off the proceedings. They added 69 runs for the opening wicket and that was a good base for the chase.

The youngster Khawaja Nafay came to the crease and led the pursuit from there. His amazing knock was enough to derail the strong Lahore Qalandars bowling arsenal. Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, Salman Fayyaz, Sikander Raza and Zaman Khan, all featured a wicket apiece.

However, they were not able to scalp the main wicket of the youngster Nafay as he stood like a wall and guided his team to victory. In the end, Quetta Gladiators won the contest by five wickets and now sit on top of the points table of the Pakistan Super League.
