Multan vs Karachi (Source- X)

The Pakistan Super League has just commenced and so far, it has been a series of one-sided victories. The Multan Sultans hosted the Karachi Kings at the Multan Cricket Stadium. The Karachi Kings had won the toss and opted to bowl first. After the early wicket of Multan skipper Mohammad Rizwan, it went downhill for the Kings. The partnership between Dawid Malan and Reeza Hendricks was enough to create a perfect platform for the Sultans and a quickfire knock from Khushdil Shah was enough to get them to a total of 185 after 20 overs.

The Karachi Kings' innings never got going at all. The Sultans' bowling attack kept them quiet in the match throughout. There was only one great innings from the likes of the experienced Shoaib Malik who scored 53 from 35 deliveries to try and get his team back in the game. Otherwise, the pace trio of David Willey, Mohammad Ali and Abbas Afridi was enough to restrict them to only 130 runs and win the game by a decent margin of 55 runs.

Reeza Hendricks's phenomenal innings

It was South Africa's top order batter, who was the best against the Sultans. Hendricks, normally an opener by nature, was enjoying his batting at number 3. With Malan steadying the ship on the other end, it was Hendricks' innings of 79 from 54 deliveries which included 7 fours and 3 sixes which was responsible for the Sultans to get back in the game. Hendricks deservingly was adjudged the player of the match for his innings.

It must be early in the innings, but it is a good start for the last-season finalists already. This will give Rizwan and his boys a lot of confidence going forward in the game. The innings from Hendricks and the great performances by the pace attack is something they will appreciate. It is still a long season ahead of them and it will be interesting to see if they still play with the same consistency as they had done in this game.
