Pakistan is known to have some of the best pace attacks in cricket history which put fear in the minds of even the top batters. Legends like Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akhtar and Waqar Younis are some of the big names we remember even now. Even today there have been some great young pacers in Pakistan, with the likes of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah. These are those bowlers who have been on top of their game with the ball in all formats of the game with their sheer pace and swing.
One of the fastest bowlers for Pakistan is Haris Rauf who can bowl in the 150’s consistently. Rauf has had a great career in white ball cricket so far. He has taken 69 wickets in ODI’s and 90 wickets in T20I’s. Rauf has been known for his hard lengths and express pace. However, the 30-year-old bowler has so far only played 1 Test match in his career. This is surprising since he has now been giving great performances consistently for his side since 2020. Rauf played his first Test match against England in 2022 and has not featured in red-ball cricket after that.
Rauf's central contract terminated
During the Test series vs Australia Rauf was asked to join the team as well. The star pacer however straight up refused to do so. This caused the Pakistan Cricket Board(PCB) to take strict action and terminate his central contract saying. Rauf is also denied NOC to play any of the franchise leagues in the future as well. The official media claims that Rauf had refused to travel with the team during the Australia series which has led them to take strict action against the player and terminate his contract effective immediately.
This is a sad state of affairs for the Pakistan pacer who was set to be part of one of the dangerous bowling attacks. Rauf is a talent that does not deserve to be wasted at all. The fact that his contract is terminated and he won’t be able to play serious cricket is a big letdown. These are big issues for the board as they have to find a perfect replacement for the express paceman for the matches in the future. Haris Rauf was set to be a part of the upcoming T20 World Cup as well, it seems like will be in trouble following this contract termination.
