India was up against the Netherlands in their last league match in the ODI World Cup 2023 and India being the stronger team dominated the Dutch by winning the match in a one-sided affair by 160 runs. With this convincing victory, India finished the league stage at the top by winning all their 9 matches.

India opted to bat first by winning the toss on the batting-friendly Bengaluru track. Rohit Sharma proved the decision to be right as he and Shubhman Gill gave India a flying start and took the team to 100 in just 11 overs. Both the openers scored a handy half-century providing a decent base for the middle-orders batters to capitalize on.

Shreyas and KL Rahul made the most of the solid start and smoked the Dutch bowlers all around the ground to take the final first-innings score to 410 runs. Shreyas got his maiden World Cup century and played an unbeaten knock of 128 runs in just 94 deliveries. He stitched a sensational 208 runs third wicket stand with KL Rahul who also scored the fastest century by an Indian in World Cups.

But a surprise incident took place in the field during the second innings where Shreyas Iyer got annoyed with a section of the Bengaluru crowd after they passed on some comments on him following a missed opportunity. Shreyas Iyer didn’t look amused by the comments hurled at him and was seen mincing some words at a section of the crowd. Iyer can be sometimes seen losing his patience off the field whether it is in the crowd or at press conferences.

India is just two steps away from glory

After decimating all their opposition in the league stage, India has marched into the knockout stage with a bang and is now just two steps away from the ultimate glory in limited-overs cricket. India is set to face New Zealand in the first semi-final of the ODI World Cup on 15th November at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

In the last 10 years, India has made it through to the knockouts of almost all the major tournaments but hasn’t been able to cross the line this time given the home advantage and fantastic India is in everyone is backing this team to end the country’s ten-year wait and bring the glory home.
