India is celebrating Diwali on Sunday and there was a huge celebration in the Indian camp as well. Rohit Sharma and his team beat the Netherlands by 160 runs to win their 9th game of the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament.

It was a clinical performance from India that ended the group phase stage without a single loss. While the Indians stayed at the top, the Dutch ended the tournament at the bottom of the points table.

Scott Edwards and his side though will go back home with heads held high. The men in orange beat two test-playing nations in South Africa and Bangladesh. After the completion of the Group stages of the tournament, the focus now shifts to the knock-out phases.

Team India dominated the Netherlands to win by 160 runs

The Netherlands were asked to chase a massive target of 411 runs from their 50 overs. Mohammed Siraj got the early wicket of Wesley Baressi for 4 runs. Indian spin twins then struck when Kuldeep Yadav got Colin Ackermann out LBW. Ravindra Jadeja bowled a peach of a ball to get rid of opener Max O Dowd for 30.

Virat Kohli then struck when he got the wicket of Scott Edwards for 17. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj got the wickets of Bas De Leede and Sybrand Engelbrecht in successive balls to dent the Dutch batting.

Teja Nidamanuru top scored with 54 runs from just 39 balls with a four and 6 sixes. Rohit Sharma got the wicket to end the proceedings as the Indian side registered an easy win. Earlier Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul centuries helped India post 410/3 on the board.

The two batters added 208 runs in just 21.1 overs for the 4th wicket as the Indian piled on the runs with ease. Shreyas Iyer scored a career best of 128 not out which had 5 sixes and 10 fours from 94 balls. KL Rahul meanwhile became the fastest Indian century-maker in ODI World Cup cricket by scoring the ton in just 62 balls.
