The ODI World Cup 2023 group stages is finally over as we head into the knock out stages of the tournament. There was a lot of memorable moments with the bat and ball that captivated the imagination of the fans.

The likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul have sizzled with the bat for India. Each player has given his best with the bat and with the ball during this 45-match group phase stage of the ODI World Cup 2023.

Here we take a look at the best playing XI from the group stages of the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament.

Openers – Rohit Sharma and Quinton De Kock

If there is an opening combination that strikes fear in the opposition it is this former Mumbai Indians duo. Both Rohit Sharma and Quinton De Kock have played an aggressive brand of cricket during the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament. Rohit Sharma had scored 503 runs from 9 games while Quinton De Kock ended with 591 runs from 9 matches.

Number three – Virat Kohli

The final name in the Middle-order slot will go to Australian sensation Glenn Maxwell. The 35-year-old has scored 397 runs from 7 games with 19 fours and 40 sixes during the ODI World Cup 2023 campaign.

Maxwell scored the fastest ton in ODI World Cup history against the Netherlands in 40 balls. His best knock came in a situation where his side was struggling at 91/7 while chasing 292 against Afghanistan. Glenn Maxwell scored 201 not out to help his side win the game.

All Rounders – Ravindra Jadeja and Marco Jansen –

Indian ace all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja scored 111 runs with the bat with an average of 55.50. With the ball, the 34-year-old has picked 16 wickets from 9 games with a best of 5/33 versus South Africa.

Marco Jansen played 8 games for South Africa picking 17 wickets but it was his lower-order contributions with the bat which were also vital. The 23-year-old scored 157 runs with a best of 75 not out. Jansen has an average of 39.25 to prove his reputation as a budding all-rounder.

Bowlers – Adam Zampa, Jasprit Bumrah, and Dilshan Madushanka

Australian Adam Zampa finished the group stages of the ODI World Cup 2023 at the top of the wicket-takers list. The leg-spinner picked 22 wickets from 9 games with a best of 4/8 against the Netherlands in New Delhi.

Sri Lankan pacer Dilshan Madushanka was the only bright light in an otherwise forgettable campaign for the 1996 World Cup winners. The left-arm pacer picked 21 wickets from 9 games with a best of 5/80 versus India in Mumbai.

The best pacer on show was from India and that happens to be Jasprit Bumrah. The 29-year-old picked 17 wickets from 9 games with a best of 4/39 versus Afghanistan in New Delhi. Jasprit Bumrah finished with the best bowling economy in the ODI World Cup 2023 which read 3.65 from his 9 matches.
