Team India is all set to lock horns against Australia on October 8 for their opening game of the ODI World Cup 2023 in Chepauk, Chennai. Notably, the Men in Blue's preparations for the ODI World Cup in 2023 turned out excellent despite no warm-up games as they were halted by rain against England and the Netherlands on September 30 and October 3, respectively.

Meanwhile, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid made plenty of experiments in the West Indies series, especially the ODI series, which resulted in criticism and shed doubt on their World Cup preparations. However, India ticked all the boxes at the right time after winning the Asia Cup 2023.

Notably, Rohit Sharma and Co. failed to perform well in group stages; however, they showed their stellar form in the Super Fours of Asia Cup 2023 as well as in the final of the Continental Cup to win the prestigious title after 5 years. Moreover, the rest of the questions were answered in the recently concluded series against Australia ahead of the marquee event.

India vs. Australia match of ODI World Cup 2023 may get halted owing to rain

Meanwhile, the rain has been playing an important role in the ODI World Cup 2023. Notably, four matches were washed out in the warm-up game of the marquee event owing to persistent rainfall. However, the rain is falling on and off in Chennai, which seems like a major threat to India's ODI World Cup match, which is set to take place on October 8.

According to Accuweather, the chances of rain are 10 per cent in the play, which means one may witness the full 100 overs of the match during the play without much interference. However, if rain continues to play, then both teams will share one point during the game. Notably, there are no reserve days for the league stage matches for the ODI World Cup 2023, which will be a major disadvantage for both sides if the rain halts the play.
