Virat Kohli is all set to create a new record in the ODI World Cup. The star cricketer from India is just one step away from surpassing the former Indian cricketer Anil Kumble in a unique record. Virat will be eyeing to break that record to surpass the Indian legendary cricketer. For a change, this time around, the record of Virat is associated with fielding, rather than batting.

The 34-year-old is currently the fielder with the most number of catches in the ODI World Cup for India, along with Anil Kumble. The former Indian cricketer had claimed 14 catches from 18 appearances in the tournament. In his career, Kumble played the ODI World Cup from 1996 to 2003. In as many editions, Kumble claimed the most number of catches for India.

Virat debuted for India in the ODI World Cup for the first time in 2011. The star cricketer played in the 2015 and the 2019 editions of the tournament as well. Unlike Kumble, Virat played 8 more games in three tournaments for India. From 2011 to 2019, Virat played 26 matches and claimed 14 catches as a fielder for India. Virat needs just one catch to surpass the legendary cricketer.
