How did Ronaldinho’s visit transpire in India?
Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho Gaucho touched down in Kolkata on Sunday for a two-day visit. The 43-year-old was greeted by a throng of fans who had gathered at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport to welcome him.
Ronaldinho kicked off his visit with a visit to the Sreebhumi Durga Puja Pandal, where he offered his prayers and inaugurated the Pandal. Ronaldinho also played football at the Sree Bhumi Sporting Club in Kolkata, alongside Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Sujit Bose. He interacted with young players and trainees and played a charity match, sharing his knowledge and experience of the game.
But the momentous occasion of the trip was the legend’s meeting with the Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee where he also gifted her a jersey.
Ronaldinho had posted on Facebook about his visit to India where he discussed the objective of his trip in India. In the video, he said, “Hello Everybody, I will be doing my maiden trip to Kolkata this mid-October and will participate in many charitable activities including visiting my R10 Football academy where I will interact with kids at Merlin Rise. Will also see the many cultural aspects and be part of the Durga Puja Festivities by visiting Shree Bhumi Sporting, Ahirtola Yuvak Brindo, Baruipur, Green Park & Rishra.”
“Moreover, I will also be part of a charity football match and also grace Diamond Harbour FC ground. I would also interact with sponsors and many felicitation programs and promote the beautiful game.”
