The camaraderie between Indian and South African players have been primitively on a great note. On and off the field there have been very little instances were the players have been seen fuming at each other. The South African team with the likes of AB de Villiers, Dale Steyn, Makhaya Ntini, Faf du Plessis, Jonty Rhodes etc have always been on the receiving end of some of the greatest fan bases in India.

The South African players have also responded positively with the amount of love that they get in India. Recently, Ravichandran Ashwin couldn't contain his laughter when former South African fast bowler Makhaya Ntini sang the Bollywood song 'Kabhi Kabhi' to greet CSK fans. In a widely circulated video on social media, Ashwin, during the South African tour, met Ntini and asked the retired cricketer to send greetings to the CSK fans.

The pair exchanged handshakes, after which Ntini attempted to recreate a scene from a South Indian movie by singing a Bollywood song, causing the cricketer born in Tamil Nadu to burst into laughter. It's noteworthy that both Ntini and Ashwin were previously members of the Super Kings, although the former participated in the IPL only during the inaugural edition. In IPL 2008, he secured 7 wickets in 9 matches at an average of 30, contributing to the Yellow Army reaching the final.

Ashwin played only one Test in the series

Meanwhile, Ashwin was included in the Test squad that traveled to South Africa for the prestigious two-Test series held at Centurion and Cape Town. In the absence of Ravindra Jadeja, who was sidelined due to a back spasm, the Indian management opted to field Ashwin, despite his less impressive track record in South Africa.

The experienced off-spinner concluded with just one wicket in 19 overs, but his tally could have been higher if the Indian fielders had not dropped catches. He was excluded from the second match in Cape Town as Jadeja became available. Nevertheless, both Ashwin and Jadeja are certain to secure a spot in the playing XI when India takes on England in a five-Test series at home, commencing from January 25th.
