In the cricketing world, MS Dhoni remains a colossal figure, even after retiring from international cricket. As IPL 2024 approaches, all eyes are on the veteran captain, who led the Chennai Super Kings to their fifth title in the 2023 season. While Dhoni's announcement of continuing in the IPL brought immense joy to the CSK fans, there is an air of uncertainty given his age. At 42, the question arises: How long can Dhoni continue to dominate the T20 league?

In a recent viral video, Dhoni responded to queries about life beyond cricket, expressing his interest in spending more time with the Army. His words raised further speculation among his plans regarding his future plans and participation in Indian cricketing setup.

When asked about his future plans in a recent interview he said, "I have never thought about it. I am still playing cricket. IPL I am still playing. It will be very interesting to see what I end up doing after cricket. I think for sure, I want to spend a bit more time with the Army because last few years I have not been able to do that."

Stephen Fleming on CSK’s succession plan

With the IPL 2024 season on the horizon, the spotlight shifts to CSK's quest for a new captain. Ravindra Jadeja's stint as skipper in 2022 faced challenges which led to MS Dhoni's reinstatement as the CSK captain. The team now faces a crucial decision about how will the franchise go about the captaincy of CSK once Dhoni retires.

During a press conference in Dubai, head coach Stephen Fleming addressed the longstanding question of succession plans for MS Dhoni. He said that the franchise has been contemplating the future captain for the last 10 years but MS Dhoni has still been going strong.

Fleming in the press conference said, "We've had succession plans for MS for about 10 years. It is going to be a talking point., but he is as engaged and as enthusiastic as I have seen him for a while. While that passion is there for the team and franchise, we'll roll on."

As CSK faces the inevitable transition post-Dhoni era, preserving the team's legacy becomes paramount. How will the franchise continue its champion legacy in the absence of MS Dhoni will be interesting to see in the future.
