T20 is now one of the most popular formats in the game of cricket right now and has a rising popularity. The shortest format rose to fame after the 2007 T20 World Cup and was introduced by the Apex Cricket Council. This further gave rise to T20 franchise leagues that have gained a lot of popularity starting with the Indian Premier League(IPL) which is now not only a platform where talent is promoted but is also one of the most competitive franchises right now. There have been some iconic performances in this format from some great players, which people still remember to this day.

There have been a lot of great T20 players who people have looked up to such as Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who have been one of the top scorers in the league for a long time now. The T20 format has not only changed the face of cricket but is also responsible for changing the approach of the other formats as well. This has made the game of cricket a fast-paced game filled with big hits and entertainment from the watchful approach in the previous two formats.

Kane Williamson picks his favourite

Kane Williamson is no doubt one of the top cricketers for New Zealand in the world right now and has been a major stalwart and will be featuring for the Gujarat Titans in the upcoming IPL. He also has an amazing record in all formats with over 17000 international runs and over 6000 runs in T20s overall. When the Kiwi skipper was asked who the greatest T20 player of all time was picked, none other than AB De Villiers, who might not have scored as many runs as Gayle and Kohli, but always made an impact in the game. De Villiers has still had an amazing career, especially in T20’s where he has scored over 9000 runs in his 340 matches.

De Villiers was always a dangerous batter to bowl to due to his ability to play shots all around the ground and play big innings when the team required. This is a great choice by Williamson who was honest and gave his thoughts based on his own experiences. There is no question that Williamson admires Mr. 360 and has given the best choice based on impact rather than stats. This is not to take away from any other top T20 player, but just respect for what AB De Villiers has achieved and conquered throughout his career.
