South Africa has registered yet another comprehensive win in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. The Proteas defeated New Zealand by a huge margin of 190 runs giving them their third loss in a row, and their biggest win yet in the ongoing tournament. A complete team effort from South Africa meant that the Kiwis had no other way, but to lose to an incredible performance from Proteas.

New Zealand won the toss and elected to bowl first. Tom Latham became yet another captain who asked South Africa to bat first and regretted it later. With an excellent batting performance, South Africa posted a huge total of 357 runs on the board. To think that South Africa posted such a huge total would be surprising for the ones who watched the match from the beginning.

At one stage, South Africa was around 50/1 after the 13th over. But the 200-run stand for the second wicket between Quinton De Kock and Rassie Van Der Dussen revived the South African innings. Then they got the required finish from Van Der Dussen and David Miller. De Kock scored a record 4th hundred in the tournament. Van Der Dussen scored 133(118) and shined with the bat.

South African bowlers dominate the Kiwi batters

Defending a total of 358 runs, the South African bowlers dominated the game right from the start. Marco Jansen was lethal with the new ball as usual. Kagiso Rabada, Gerald Coetzee, and Keshav Maharaj gave good support to Jansen and continuously chipped in with wickets. Jansen bowled a brilliant spell of 3/31 in his 8 overs including a maiden over.

Rabada bowled a couple of maiden overs in his 6-over spell and got the wicket of Tom Latham. Coetzee got a  couple of wickets and Maharaj cleaned up the tail well by claiming 4 wickets. Glenn Phillips tried his best to get New Zealand close to the total. But there was just not enough support for him from the other end. It was South Africa's sixth win of the tournament.
