In a unique occurrence, the ODI World Cup 2023 match between India and New Zealand in Dharamshala on October 22 experienced a brief interruption due to dense fog, a first in such a prestigious tournament. The fog became so thick that players from both teams found it challenging to track the ball. In response to this situation, the umpires made the decision to suspend the game until visibility improved.

Shubman Gill became the fastest to score 2,000 ODI runs
Gill's remarkable achievement of becoming the fastest batter to reach 2,000 runs in ODIs is noteworthy. He accomplished this feat in just 38 ODI innings, surpassing Hashim Amla's record of 40 innings set on January 21, 2011, during a match against India at St George's Park in Port Elizabeth. Notably, Shubman Gill also outpaced Shikhar Dhawan, breaking the record for the fastest Indian batter to reach 2,000 runs.
The left-hand batter achieved this milestone in his 48th innings on November 9, 2014, during a match against Sri Lanka at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The 23-year-old batter was tantalizingly close to the 2000-run mark and effortlessly crossed the threshold. In the seventh over's fourth ball, he elegantly executed a cover drive off Trent Boult to reach the 2000-run mark in ODIs.
The prolific opener has been steadily regaining his batting form during the ongoing World Cup. He missed the first two matches of the tournament due to illness but made a strong comeback against Pakistan, where Shaheen Shah Afridi dismissed him.
