India's star batsman Shubman Gill's absence was missed in their opening game of the ODI World Cup 2023 against Australia on October 8. Following that, the star cricketer will miss their second match against Afghanistan on October 11 at Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi. However, the 24-year-old batter is set to sit out during the high-octane clash against Pakistan on October 14 at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium.

According to reports, Shubman Gill is still suffering from high dengue fever, and his platelets are currently down. Notably, the opening batter got the symptoms of dengue in the ODI World Cup 2023 warm-up clash against England in Guwahati.

“Medical advice given to the team management is to avoid flying when the platelet count is down. Earlier on Monday, the BCCI issued a statement confirming that Gill will not be available for the Delhi game,” the Cricbuzz report stated.

Moreover, the great opening batsman was hospitalised in the morning and is currently under the medical team of the Indian Cricket Board, which means that he might miss the clash against the Babar Azam-led side in Ahemdabad. Notably, this is the biggest blow for Team India, as Shubman Gill has the best record at Ahmedabad Ground and was the leading scorer for IPL 2023.
