India defeated Afghanistan in the second match of the ODI World Cup 2023. The Men in Blue have now won two consecutive matches in the mega event. The team skipper, Rohit Sharma scored 131 runs off 84 balls. But another incident happened in the match when Virat Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq hugged each other during the match and ended their spat that occurred during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

They were involved in a verbal spat in the match, along with former India batter and LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir also getting involved. On Wednesday, Kohli stopped the fans from mocking Naveen. When the Afghan pacer was coming in to bowl, the crowd erupted with chants of “Kohli, Kohli” almost every time. They exchanged some good words after Kohli's heartwarming gesture.

Meanwhile, Kohli again scored 55 runs off 56 balls in the second match. The former India skipper played a brilliant knock under pressure in the opening game against Australia in the marquee tournament. He played a knock of 85 runs off 116 deliveries. The batter has been in sensational form in 2023.

Gautam Gambhir, who was commentating during the IND vs AFG game, said, "That's a great gesture and I hope from here on, in the upcoming matches, everyone, people are reminded of Virat's gesture because every professional cricketer works hard to make it to this level to play for the country, to play in the IPL. If you can't support anyone, don't criticise him. You have the right to support your favourite player but you don't have any to criticise a player."

Naveen said, "He is a nice guy, a good player and we shook hands. It’s always in the ground, it was nothing outside the ground. People make it big. They need that stuff for their followers. He said we are done with that and I said yes we are done with it. We shook hands and hugged."

India will next be in action on October 14 against arch-rivals Pakistan, at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
