India is facing the Netherlands in the last match of the round-robin stage of the ODI World Cup 2023 in Bengaluru on the auspicious day of Diwali. India came in this match after winning all of their matches and are at the top of the table whereas the Netherlands are at the contrasting end of the points table but have shown some spirited performances by beating a strong South Africa and experienced Bangladesh.
India were always favorites against the Netherlands and they played like a dominating force in their first innings. After opting to bat after winning the toss on a good batting track, the Indian openers wreaked havoc on the Dutch bowlers. Rohit Sharma set the tone of the innings by hitting two boundaries in the very first over of the match on the off-spinner Aryan Dutt and Shubhman Gill carried the momentum by hitting a brisk 29-ball half-century.
Rohit and Kohli both also hit classy half-centuries and made the most of good batting conditions and an inexperienced bowling attack. Rohit got out to all-rounder Bas de Leede while pulling a length ball that had some extra bounce to it and Kohli got castled after he missed a straighter one by the experienced left-arm Roelof van der Merwe.
Iyer and Rahul put on a spectacle at Chinnaswamy
Before Rohit and Kohli both got out, India had already crossed the 200-run mark under 29 overs setting a perfect stage for the in-form middle order and Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul made the most of the stage that had been set up for them.
Both the batters took their time to settle but once they got their eye in, the ball was only travelling to places after that. Both the dynamite middle-order batters made short work of the Dutch bowling line-up and hit sixes to all parts of the ground.
Both the batters scored their tons and took India to a massive first innings total of 410 runs at the end of 50 overs. KL Rahul hit the fastest century for India in just 62 balls before getting out at the score of 102 while Shreyas Iyer remained not out at 128 off just 94 deliveries.
The Indians were elated when India chose to bat first after winning the toss and their expectations were met by the Indian team as they hit a flurry of boundaries and sixes in their explosive innings of 410 that was full of fireworks. The fans expressed their excitement on “X” formerly Twitter. Some of the reactions of fans are:
Diwali-like batting by India. Shreyas and Rahul getting 100s and India going beyond 400 is the right uptick just before the semis #INDvNED

How often do you see a team with every single member in such good form … Absolute domination - Kudos to the prep, planning and then the execution. And no unnecessary temptation to tinker with the XI .. May this continue all through the next week 🤞🏻 #INDvNED
