The 24th match in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 featured a face-off between Australia and the Netherlands at Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium. In addition to it, the match eventually turned out to be a one-sided affair as the Australian team won the game by an enormous margin of 309 runs. With this win Australian team has now won three games in a row and has firmed their spot at number four in the points table.

Earlier in the game, Australia captain Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to bat on a pitch favourable to batting. They faced a shaky start with opener Mitchell Marsh departing early. David Warner and Steven Smith then cautiously built a strong partnership, later transitioning to an aggressive approach, resulting in a remarkable 132-run partnership for the second wicket before Smith was caught brilliantly.

Marnus Labuschagne joined Warner and played a quick innings, accumulating 62 runs. Warner achieved a splendid century before being dismissed for 104 runs. The explosive Glenn Maxwell followed, reaching the fastest century in World Cup history in just 40 balls, amassing 106 runs with nine fours and eight sixes, propelling Australia to a formidable total of 399. This total stands as the joint second-highest in the ODI World Cup 2023. Despite recent batting struggles, Maxwell's dazzling performance delighted fans and showcased Australia's strength in the tournament, setting a challenging target for their opponents.

Adam Zampa star as Netherlands were bowled out for just 90 runs

In the quest for the humongous target, Mitchell Starc provided an early breakthrough by dismissing Max ODowd, and a run-out accounted for Vikramjit Singh, who seemed well-set at the crease. From that point on, the match became incredibly one-sided. Despite not having bowled much recently, Mitchell Marsh managed to claim two crucial wickets.

Following this, Adam Zampa, who secured his fourth consecutive four-wicket haul, played a pivotal role in orchestrating a resounding 309-run victory for the team. This win not only significantly boosted Australia's Net Run Rate (NRR) but also positioned them as formidable contenders, not only for a spot in the semi-finals but as potential champions of the tournament.
