Australian batter Glenn Maxwell created history in Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. In the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 in India, Glenn Maxwell registered the fastest ODI World Cup hundred against Netherlands. The blasting knock of Maxwell got Australia to a total of 399 runs. Here are the batters with the quickest tons in the history of the ODI World Cup. 

5. Ab De Villiers against West Indies

Ab De Villiers broke several records in the match. On  agood batting surface in Sydney, the former South African captain created history, as he scored an unbeaten 162*(66). His first hundred came in just 52 balls, which was the then third fastest hundred in ODIs. As De Villiers went past the mark of 150, he reached the milestone in 62 balls, which is still the fastest to the milestone in ODIs. 

4. Glenn Maxwell against Afghanistan

In the 2015 ODI World Cup, Maxwell had registered the then second fastest hundred in ODIs. Against Afghanistan, Australia ended up scoring a mammoth score of 417 runs, which remained the highest score in the history of the tournament for 8 years. In the process, Maxwell brought up his hundred in just 51 balls after Warner scored a mammoth hundred for himself in Perth. 

3. Kevin Obrien against England

Kevin Obrien created history during his knock against England. From 111/5 at one stage, Ireland ended up chasing a mammoth total of 329 runs. Obrien scored a fastestic hundred in the run chase. The former Ireland batter scored his hundred in hust 50 balls, which was the fastest hundred in the World Cup for 12 years, and still remains the fastest by a batter in World Cup while chasing a target. 

2. Aiden Markram against Sri Lanka

Aiden Markram scored a fantastic hundred against Sri Lanka earlier this tournament. On a good batting surface in Delhi, South Africa scored a mammoth total of 428 runs on the board, which is the highest score by a team in the World Cup. Markram scored his hundred in just 49 balls, which remained the fastest hundred in the World Cup for less than a month! 

1. Glenn Maxwell against Netherlands 

Glenn Maxwell scored a fantastic ton against Netherlands at a very brisk rate. After the likes of Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith scored fifty, and Warner scored hundred, Maxwell played an insane knock and smashed the bowlers for fun. Maxwell swept and reverse swept the pacers for fun and registered a hundred in just 40 balls, which is now the record for the fastest ton in the history of World Cups.
