In the 14th match of the ODI World Cup 2023, Australia beat Sri Lanka by five wickets to register their first win in the ongoing tournament. After a great bowling performance from skipper Pat Cummins, the middle-order batters stole the show with amazing batting performances.

Earlier, after winning the toss, Sri Lanka skipper Kusal Mendis opted to bat first. His decision went well with the team as openers Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Parera added 125 runs for the first wicket. Nissanka, in his innings, scored 61 runs off 67 balls with the help of eight boundaries. On the other hand, Parera, in his innings, scored 78 runs off 82 balls with the help of 12 boundaries.

After a great start, Sri Lankan batters failed to continue the striking rate as Australia skipper Pat Cummins clinched two back-to-back wickets. In the end, Charith Aslanka's 25-run knock helped Sri Lanka cross the 200-run mark, as they scored just 209/10. Meanwhile, Australian spinner Adam Zampa took four wickets, while Cummins and Mitchell Starc got two.
