India thumped England in the 3rd test at Rajkot by 434 runs to register their biggest win in test cricket in terms of runs. Adding cheery to the cake was the fact that India achieved this feat with a relatively inexperienced line-up with two players making their debut in the same match and one player making his debut in the previous match only.
Beating the aggressive England team who are renowned worldwide for their ‘Bazball’ approach with such an experienced batting line-up something volumes about the resilience of this Indian test team and the depth of the Indian cricketing setup.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma himself praised the young lot of Indian batters who stepped up in the absence of Indian cricket veteran Virat Kohli who is unavailable in the tests for England due to some personal emergency.
Rohit Sharma lauded the efforts of youngsters Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, and Dhruv Jurel who played a significant role in India’s historic victory in his fun-loving style through an Instagram story with the caption, “Yeh Aajkal ke Bacche’. Rohit Sharma's Instagram story went viral on time and the fans appreciated the Indian skipper for recognizing the efforts of these Indian youngsters. Here is the story of Rohit Sharma:
Rohit Sharma assesses India’s record-win in the 3rd Test
Rohit was all praises for his team after the match for winning the test despite all the setbacks that they faced during and before the match. Many key players were either unavailable, injured, or were out of form before the match, and above that Ravi Ashwin leaving the match mid-way after 2nd day made the situation even more tricky for the Indian team.
But as they did in the past, the Indian team came back stronger in adverse situations to which Rohit said, “Obviously it’s a very good feeling to win a game like that, especially with such a young team as well. (We had) two debutants (Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel) and not a lot of Test matches amongst the playing eleven as well,” Rohit told the media here after India’s win.
“A lot of these guys are learning from the experience that they’re having in the middle. We got to learn a lot about how we played in Hyderabad and then in Vizag when we won.”
He further added, “We knew it’s not going to be an easy one for us to just come out here and win the series. We have (had) to work hard, especially with a lot of our front-line players missing as well,” Rohit said.
“A lot of credit to these young boys who have come in and showed a lot of character. Looks like they belong here and they want to stay here as well.”
