Rohit Sharma hilariously forgets name of teammate during toss against Afghanistan, video goes viral

Rohit Sharma is back in the Indian T20 setup after a hiatus of 14 months. He last featured for India against England in the semi-finals of the 2022 T20 World Cup held in Australia. India suffered a crushing defeat in that game by 10 wickets which cast doubts over Rohit Sharma’s T20I future because of his dismal form with the bat in the shortest format of the game.

Rohit and Virat didn’t play the T20I format in 2023 as their prime focus was the ODI format during this time and Hardik Pandya took over the captaincy reign in the T20 format. Many people were of the view that we have seen the last of the two stalwarts of Indian cricket in the shortest format but Rohit and Virat’s comeback in the Indian T20 side against Afghanistan just before the T20 World Cup signified that they were not really out of the T20 scheme of things but were just rested.

However, Rohit Sharma’s form and approach in the recently concluded ODI World Cup were praised by many as he provided India with brisk starts in almost all the matches at a staggering strike rate of 126 and the management is hopeful that he will be able to repeat the feat in the T20I World Cup too.

Rohit Sharma was back as captain against Afghanistan for the first T20I at Mohali and made his presence felt with his toss goof-ups. Rohit Sharma is known for forgetting things as famously propagated by Virat Kohli and today Rohit Sharma again proved that forgetting his player’s name at the toss.

When asked about the playing XI, Rohit named the four players who were not playing and while naming the fourth player he forgot his name and took a long pause and was finally reminded about the player by Murali Karthik. In a funny incident at the toss last year, Rohit forgot what the team had decided to do leading to a funny situation. Watch the video here:
