The Football World Cup Qualifiers 2026 match between Brazil and Argentina had a delayed start. In a packed house in Brazil, the match had a delay of about half an hour due to a fight that broke out in the stands during the national anthem between the two arch-rivals of South America.

The police had to be called to look into the things that seemed to be out of the hands of the security personnel. Some of the fans fought hard and made it to the middle of the stadium. The chaos led to some of the players being involved in it. Emiliano Martinez, the world-class goalkeeper for Argentina, was dragged into it.

After waiting for some time in the middle, the Lionel Messi Lee side returned to their dressing room and waited for the police to clear things up. The police got hold of some individuals who were responsible for the fight. One of them was badly injured with bruises. After the clearance, the game started in a packed house that badly wanted a Brazilian win. The match proved to be an equally poised battle between the two titans of the football world. The home side could not get the better of the world champions.

Brazil's World Cup qualification is in jeopardy

For the first time in their World Cup qualification history, Brazil had lost back-to-back games. Brazil had a good start to their campaign by beating Bolivia 5-1 and Peru 2-1. Since then, Brazil has not won a game! Against Venezuela, Brazil drew the game 1-1. The biggest shock was to follow them, as they lost back-to-back games against Uruguay and Colombia, respectively. Against Uruguay, Brazil had no way out and did not seem to compete either.

Brazil lost 0-2 to the two-time world champions. In their very next game, they lost 1-2 to Colombia and experienced back-to-back losses in World Cup qualifiers for the first time in history. As fate had decided, Brazil was up against Argentina. In the big match, Brazil lost 0-1 to the world champions, thanks to Otamendi's strike in the 63rd minute of the game.
