The Indian team is in a great mood after winning the 2nd Test at the Newlands in Cape Town and levelling the series 1-1. The match began in the most bizarre fashion as the hosts were bowled out for just 55 runs in the 1st innings and the Indians in reply could only manage 153 runs while losing the last 6 wickets without scoring a run. This was one of the rarest moments where 23 wickets had fallen in a single day. The second day was no different as once again South Africa were bowled out for just 176 and Indians easily chased the target with 7 wickets in hand making it their first win in Cape Town in one of the shortest Test matches in cricket history.
There is always the saying that the game of cricket is dominated by the batters, but in this particular game it was the bowlers who were the stars. The Indian pace duo of Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah were the architects behind this famous victory for India. Both the bowlers picked 15 wickets between them in the Test, where Siraj was the man of the moment in the 1st innings with figures of 6/15 in his 9 overs and Bumrah with 6/61 in 13.5 overs. Together these two created havoc for the batters on a tricky Cape Town pitch.
Bumrah editing his own praises
Both Siraj and Bumrah were awarded for their performances in the Test match where Siraj was adjudged as the man of the match and Bumrah was the man of the series. However in an interview where Bumrah was translating for Siraj in the post-match presentations. Siraj was praising Bumrah throughout in Hindi saying “ Jassi bhai Hamesha jaise start karte hain, ek message milta hai – kaun se wicket pe kaisa line and length better hai. Ussey mujhe zyada sochne ki zarurat nahi hoti, usi cheez pe work karunga toh" success milega. Who doosre end pe rehte hain to bohut hi achha rehta hai," This is where the pacer is praising Bumrah saying that whenever he starts the innings he gets to know which line and length is better and he doesn’t have to think too much while bowling at the other end.

Surprisingly Bumrah while translating decides to leave out all the praises from Siraj and simply says “So yeah, because when we play along together, he gets the message earlier because of your experience. We try to analyse the wicket quicker so that communication goes in the bowling circuit that this is the wicket and this is what we are looking to do. So that helps him sometimes." This reply shows that not only is Bumrah an incredible bowler, but he is also a great teammate and chose not to take away his moment during the interview.
