The India vs Afghanistan T20I series saw the Men in Blue clean sweep the series against the Afghans and featured in one of the best T20 games in history at the Chinnaswamy in Bangalore. The double super over in the series was the moment we saw both sides battle it out in the middle with India winning the war in the end. The amount of talent showcased in this series was also phenomenal. The likes of Shivam Dube, Yashasavi Jaiswal and Rinku Singh showed their talent on the big stage.
The return of Indian stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were also the big talking points in the series especially when they have come back into the format after 14 months. Rohit even though failed in the first two games eventually showed his best game in the last game scoring his fifth T20I century and being the best batter for India in the two super overs which were played. The question is still whether the India skipper will continue leading the side in the upcoming T20 World Cup as well.
Rohit sets eyes on the T20 World Cup 2024
The World Cups are the tournaments that have been eluding the Indian team for a long time since the last major trophy won by the Men in Blue was in 2013. The last time India won the World Cup was in 2011 and the last time India achieved T20 glory was in 2007. This is what made the 2023 ODI World Cup a heartbreaking loss for every Indian fan and player. Rohit Opened up on the loss saying that they tried their best, but couldn’t do it and the team was sad as well. The India skipper further stated saying “We have one more opportunity. We will try our best to use this opportunity in a better way to win the World Cup."
This was the first time Rohit gave an emotional reply to the media questioning the side after the failure of the previous World Cup. We have to still give Rohit credit he led the side on a great winning streak of 10 wins out of 10 in the World Cup, but unfortunately failed to win the final game. It is still good to see the India skipper still has great ambitions going forward and will be likely to lead the side in the T20 World Cup 2024 that will be played in June in the United States of America and West Indies.
