The Indian Premier League(IPL) 2024 is about to start on the 22nd of March as it was announced earlier. The teams are set to play in the league, where the ten teams will go head-to-head for the big prize. All the sides look really competitive going into the league and the people cannot wait. There have been many big buys in the IPL auction, who would prove to be promising in the league. This is also the first time where two players have broken the 20cr barrier in the auction as well.

Out of all the most popular teams in the league is the Mumbai Indians. The franchise maybe getting a lot of backlash due to some controversies, but they will always be a team to watch out for. The Mumbai team has got a fair share of good buys going into the tournament. The last tournament was also a decent one for the 5-time champions where they made it into the playoffs, but eventually lost to the Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2.

5. Romario Shepherd

There was a need for the Mumbai Indians to get another all rounder who can give us a few overs after trading Cameron Green to the Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB). Romario Shepherd cannot only bowl some great spells of medium pace, but also play some big shots at the end. The Guyanese all rounder was traded for just 50 lakhs to the Mumbai Indians and might play a bigger role in the team.

4. Shreyas Gopal

There was a need for another attacking spin option in the Mumbai side last season. The contribution of Piyush Chawla was really exceptional, but it still seemed like a lacklustre spin attack. Shreyas Gopal is not only a wicket taking option, but also has enough experience in  the league. Gopal was bought for 20 lakhs and could be the surprise performer for the Mumbai Indians going into the league.

3. Dilshan Madhushanka

If there is one player in the Sri Lankan team who played a major role in the World Cup it is Dilshan Madhushanka. The left arm seamer has all the variations and movements to pick wickets. Madhushanka has had a great international career so far for the Lankan Lions. The Mumbai Indians will be happy to steal this player for just over 4 cr in the auction and strengthen their bowling attack in the process.

If there is any Afghanistan player who is as well regarded as Rashid Khan, it is Mr. President Mohammad Nabi. The former Afghanistan skipper will add a lot of depth to the Mumbai Indians side. His off spinners and finishing abilities were already displayed in the T20 series vs India. Nabi is one of the best T20 players for Afghanistan and he is capable of making a big impact on the Mumbai Indians side. He was bought for 1.50 cr and it will be interesting to see how he will fit into the plans of the Mumbai Indians teams.

The MI pace attack struggled a lot during the 2023 season. They really needed a pacer who could give them those big breakthroughs in the middle overs. Gerald Coetzee is one of those young seamers, with his extra pace and variations. The 23-year-old South Africa pacer, already proved himself in the World Cup as one of the biggest prodigies. With the demand of pacers in the auction, the MI Paltan will be overjoyed to get him for 5 cr in the auction. With Coetzee and a returning Jasprit Bumrah, it already looks like a dangerous bowling attack.
