In the first match of Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 Sajeevan Sajana of Mumbai Indians women made sure her teams win the match. Sajeevan Sajana gave a perfect win by hitting a six on the last-ball while MI-W needed five runs to win from just one ball.

In the first match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024, Sajeevan Sajana of Mumbai Indians women made sure her team won the match. Sajeevan Sajana gave a perfect win by hitting a six on the last-ball while MI-W needed five runs to win from just one ball. Mumbai Indians women were chasing the score of 172 runs set by Delhi Capitals.

Mumbai Indians lost their captain Harmanpreet Kaur when there were 2 balls left. As the game looked over for Mumbai Indians Sajeevan Sajana smashed a six on the last ball of Alice Capsey.

Sajeevan Sajana is from Mananthavady in Wayanad, Kerala. As per reports, her father is an auto-rickshaw driver and her mother is a Municipality councillor. In her childhood days, she used to play with plastic and coconut pedal bats. After Minnu Mani she is the only second player in WPL from the Kurichiya tribal, which is a tribal community in Wayanad.

Earlier cricket career

In 2012 Sajeevan Sajana started playing cricket for the district team. She earned Rs. 150 per day. She can even bowl off-spin. In 2019 under her captaincy, she led the Kerala U23 team to the T20 Super League title. She also won the women cricketer of the year award from the Kerala Cricket Association in 2015 and 2017.

Due to her brilliant performance for the state team, India A and South Zone, she was picked by Mumbai Indians in the WPL 2024 auction for Rs. 15 lakhs. In 2023 she scored 134 runs and picked 6 wickets.

As she managed to pull out a win for her team by hitting six on the last delivery her name has been rising in the cricketing world. 

Sajeevan Sajana's role model is former India opener Gautam Gambhir. She remembers the bat gifted by Gautam Gambhir as her biggest gift of life.
