MS Dhoni was one of the best captains of his time. The former Indian captain is considered to be one of the greatest captains of all time. Many consider him to be arguably the greatest Indian captain. These are backed up with many facts like good winning percentage, number of wins in big tournaments, transition period, leadership skills, ability to groom players, and many other factors.

The biggest testament to his captaincy is his winning the T20 World Cup in 2007, the ODI World Cup in 2011, and the Champions Trophy in 2013. To date, Dhoni remains the only captain to win all three tournaments. There are instances where his genius in captaincy helped the Indian team in a big cause. Moments like it have garnered him a huge fanbase.

But it was not all highs for Dhoni. In many of the tournaments, India could not win the eventual glory. For many such losses, Dhoni's captaincy was blamed to be the reason. But everything started with his selection as the captain of the Indian team. It came at a period in which the Indian team was in huge turmoil, having lost the 2007 ODI World Cup in the group stage.
