India batting collapse

The 2nd Test in Cape Town between India and South Africa is where everyone has witnessed one of the most bizarre situations in a game. The match saw 23 wickets fall on a single day, with both teams being bowled out for low and modest totals. This is certainly one of the rarest moments in a game of Test Cricket that no one imagined.

It all started with Mohammed Siraj triggering a batting collapse that led to South Africa being bowled out for just 55 runs. The Proteas, in reply, got the Indians all out for just 153. The 1st day ended with South Africa at 62-3 and trailing by just 36 runs. This was perhaps a moment to forget for both teams.

Many records were broken during the day and most of the records are something which no team or player would want on their list. The record of 23 wickets falling on the same day to a team being bowled out for 55 are some of the records that people would not want to associate with. There have been many unwanted records in the history of the game right from Sanath Jayasuriya getting the most ducks for a pure batter in international cricket to Stuart Broad being the first bowler to be hit for 6 sixes. These are those records that players would like to forget as soon as possible.

India’s unwanted Record in Test matches

One of those unwanted records belongs to the Indians as well in the same Test match that started yesterday. At one stage everyone thought that India would comfortably get a lead over 100 and challenge the Proteas in the 2nd innings, but the bowlers came out with a bang after the dismissal of Virat Kohli and triggered a major collapse in the India innings. India had 6 wickets in hand at a score of 153 and surprisingly lost all six wickets without scoring a single run. This was one of the weirdest and most shocking events people witnessed in the span of just 2 overs or more.

This is certainly a moment in the game which would want to be forgotten by any India fan or cricketer. The Indians still had a chance to win the game, but the fact that they lost the opportunity to establish complete dominance over South Africa in the Test match. The Indians will still want to come back and bowl out the Proteas as soon as possible to come back into the game and draw the series. It will still be interesting to see what the approach will be by the Indians after the collapse and once again show why they are the number-ranked Test team.
