The South Africa vs India Test series ended on a disappointing note for the Proteas where they lost the 2nd Test in Cape Town by 7 wickets. South Africa might have not lost the series, but their streak at Cape Town has been broken by the Indians. The fact that the game finished in only 2 days, is one of the rarest and bizarre games of Test cricket anyone has ever witnessed. However, since the series was levelled the Proteas still keep their winning streak alive in the rainbow nation and still maintain their dominating run. They will still feel a bit disappointed at losing at the Newlands, where they have been successful in the past.
South Africa's newly appointed Test coach Shukri Conrad was also happy to maintain the record at home against a quality Indian side. Shukri has been a coach for a long time and has also been part of 13 first-class games as well. He also coached the Uganda national team back in 2010 and has been part of the technical team as well. It is safe to say that he has a fair share of knowledge in the game to coach one of the top-ranked teams in international cricket and has done a wonderful job so far.
Shukri Conrad on Tendulkar and Kohli
There have already been a lot of comparisons made between Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar and Conrad has given his opinions on both the players while talking to Rahul Dravid. He talked about why he admired Tendulkar so much on Sports Star while talking about his innings of 169 in Cape Town saying “I sat in the Railway Stand there and watched it, and I said to myself, I don’t think I would see anything better, This ground has not seen anything better. Neither have I.”
He also brought up his conversation with Rahul Dravid regarding this topic saying “I cannot believe, I told Dravid, that Sachin Tendulkar was better than Kohli. And he said to me, ‘Look, Sachin stays the master, Virat is great.’” This explains the amount of knowledge both coaches have and why they are highly regarded in this scenario. The debate will go on as they are both talented batters and have broken unbelievable records. This was still a great sharing of knowledge between two experienced and knowledgeable individuals.
