India has announced its T20I squad for the series against Afghanistan. There were some major changes in the squad with the return of the senior batters in the format. The likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are back in the T20I squad after a long time. Rohit will be leading the Indian team in the shorter format in the absence of Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav.

The two batters have been picked for the first time since they faced England in the semifinal of the T20 WC 2022. Apart from them, there are many other good players in the squad. The likes of Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal are the options to open the innings for India. There are other talented batters who are likely to bat in the middle order for India.ย 

The likes of Rinku Singh, Shivam Dube, and Tilak Varma are in the squad. Dube has got a call up for the series for the first time since his participation in the Asian Games 2023. Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma are being picked as the WK batters for the series. In the top and middle order, India has many options to bowl and keep, which ensures good balance to the side.

Spin varieties against Afghanistan in T20Is

India has 4 different types of spinners for the series against Afghanistan. There are the likes pof Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar, and Ravi Bishnoi who are 4 different types of spinners. Ravi Bishnoi is a right arm leg-spinner. Kuldeep Yadav is a left-arm unorthodox chinaman wrist spinner. Axar Patel is an orthodox left arm spinner. Washington Sundar is a right arm off-spinner.

Among them, 2 bowlers are capable of finishing the innings. It adds up to the balance of the side. The Indian pace attack consists of the likes of Avesh khan, Mukesh Kumar, and Arshdeep Singh. All the three pacers have been backed to play in the series against Afghanistan. The three of them were in the series against South Africa as well.ย
