The Big Bash League(BBL) 2023-24 is still in its early stages with the teams still having a chance to get back into winning ways. On the 28th of December 2023, the Hobart Hurricanes will be hosting the Melbourne Stars at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart. This will be a contest between two teams who have not had a lot of success so far. What will give both these teams confidence is that they have finally got off the mark after disappointing matches earlier in the tournament. The contest can still be exciting as both sides will be hungry for more wins.
The Hurricanes have had one of the worst starts possible for any side in the BBL losing their first two games by big margins, losing to the Sydney Sixers and the Perth Scorchers. After this, the side had to make a comeback of some sort in their next game. They managed to open their account by beating the Melbourne Renegades chasing down a more than decent total of over 180. This will be a big confidence booster for the Hurricanes facing the second Melbourne franchise.
The Stars have had an equally disappointing start to their tournament losing three on the trot to Brisbane Heat, Perth Scorchers and Sydney Thunder. Their performances have been underwhelming and they are placed 7th on the points table. However, Glenn Maxwell and his men finally showed up on the points table after defeating the Sydney Sixers, who are one of the best teams in BBL history. It’s still a long way for them to go, but there is still enough time for them to get their season underway.

HUR vs STA – Likely Pitch Conditions
The Bellerive Oval is one of the grounds that is known for very windy conditions, hence that is why the seamers have enjoyed the lateral movement at the start of the innings. However, the wicket seems to get better and flatter as the day progresses, which will force the bowlers to make early breakthroughs at this venue. Overall this will be a test for both the teams playing on this really unpredictable wicket which has something for both the batters and the bowlers. So it might be better for the team to bowl first and restrict the batters and chase down whatever is put in front of them.
