Royal Challengers Bangalore came into the IPL 2024 season on the hunt for that elusive title. The RCB fans will hope that this is finally the year that they reach the promised land of winning the IPL trophy.

The IPL 2023 campaign was heartbreaking for RCB and its fans. Mumbai Indians had beaten Hyderabad thanks to a century from Cameron Green. All RCB had to do was beat Gujarat in their final game.

Despite a century from Virat Kohli, RCB lost to Gujarat Titans thanks to Shubman Gill’s century. In this article, let us take a closer look at the SWOT Analysis of Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Strengths – Top-Order batting firepower

One of the biggest strengths of Royal Challengers Bangalore is their batting firepower. Faf Du Plessis and Virat Kohli were the best openers across the league last season. The addition of Cameron Green and the presence of Glenn Maxwell makes it a formidable top-order. All four batters can easily take the game away from the opposition on their day.

Weakness – Lack of support for Mohammed Siraj

RCB picked up Alzarri Joseph, Yash Dayal, Tom Curran, and Lockie Ferguson during the IPL Auction 2024. The fast bowlers picked up though do not give the same bit as Josh Hazlewood did for RCB. Mohammed Siraj is one of the best bowlers in IPL and the 29-year-old will be looking for ample support during the season.

Opportunities – Chance for youngsters to shine –

Faf Du Plessis will hope the youngsters in the side can take responsibility of scoring runs and picking wickets during the upcoming season. One would hope the dependency that is levied on the big names is reduced and RCB can find the right balance to win the league. The likes of Suyash Prabhudesai, Anuj Rawat, Mahipal Lomror, and Mayank Dagar have to step up their game this year.

Threats – Lack of backup wicketkeeper

It is quite surprising that despite having INR 2.8 Crores left, RCB did not go for a wicket-keeper as backup. Dinesh Karthik isn’t getting any younger and the veteran is just one injury away from putting RCB’s season in complete chaos. Anuj Rawat has kept wickets for New Delhi but the IPL is a different ball game and someone like Phil Salt or Josh Inglis could have been a good choice.
