In the Cricket World Cup 2023 clash between India and Australia, it was the dynamic duo of KL Rahul and Virat Kohli who stole the spotlight. Facing a challenging target of 201 runs, India faced an early setback with three top-order batsmen getting dismissed without scoring. However, the fourth-wicket partnership between Rahul and Kohli turned the tide, amassing an impressive 165 runs.
What made their collaboration even more noteworthy was the crucial stage at which they entered the game. Although neither batsman reached the milestone of a century, their combined efforts ensured India successfully reached the target. Kohli's stellar 85-run contribution has earned him widespread acclaim, but Pakistani cricket legend Shoaib Akhtar argues that Rahul's performance deserves equal recognition.
Akhtar particularly commends Rahul for his multitasking prowess, as he not only kept wickets in the first innings but also played a pivotal role with the bat, finishing unbeaten at 97. The former Pakistani speedster also highlighted the fact that Rahul's fluent and flawless innings, noting that he didn't give the Australian bowlers any opportunities to dismiss him.
"The way KL Rahul asserted his authority; he looks to be in a different league. Virat Kohli played a great innings but he could not play a chanceless innings. When KL Rahul was batting, he did not give any chance throughout his innings," Shoaib said on his YouTube channel.

The 48 year old, on the other hand, commends Rahul not just for his batting prowess but also for his exceptional fitness. Despite having already kept wickets for nearly 50 overs, Rahul's endurance was evident as he maintained a commendable level of running, a feat acknowledged by Akhtar who ran alongside him made life more tough for Australia.
