The first ODI between the two teams is currently underway. Australia won the toss and chose to field first in the first match at Adelaide Oval. England couldn't get off to a good start as the wickets kept falling at regular intervals. However, Dawid Malan stood tall on the other side and went on to score a century.

In the 37th over of the match, Pat Cummins was caught in two minds while deciding to go for Review System/Umpire Referral to dismiss Chris Jordan. At that stage, England were getting closer to 200, thanks to a partnership between Chris Jordan and Dawid Malan.

Adam Zampa thought he had caught Chris Jordan off-guard. The umpire did not raise his hand despite the appeal from the fielding side. After consulting with the wicketkeeper, Alex Carey, Pat Cummins wanted to take the review but changed his mind with six seconds remaining on the timer. However, the referral went in vain, as there was a huge deflection before the ball crashed into his pads. Despite the respite, Chris Jordan failed to deliver as the player got dismissed on the very next ball. He tried to play a pull-esque shot on the leg side to Adam Zampa but completely missed it. The umpire adjudged the batsman out, but he referred the decision immediately. However, as there was no bat involve and Chris Jordan had to walk back into the pavilion.

England, meanwhile, have managed to score 287 runs at the end of the first innings. Australia need 288 runs to win the first ODI and take the lead.
