Team India engaged in its first training session on Wednesday after landing in the United Arab Emirates for the Asia Cup 2022. India's star batter Virat Kohli hit the nets in what could be considered as a grueling session. The star batter is making a comeback to the team after being rested for the team's previous two limited-overs series to West Indies and Zimbabwe.

The former India skipper has been going through a lean patch with the bat. He had a poor England series and form has deserted him right from the 2022 Indian T20 League. To note, he last scored a century in 2019 against Bangladesh.

However, the cricket-loving public is hoping that the Indian great makes a strong comeback after the break. Kohli is expected to return to the side for the marquee clash against arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday which begins India's campaign in the Asia Cup.

Ahead of the game, the players from both sides met each other on the sidelines of their respective training sessions in Dubai. Kohli met Pakistan captain Babar Azam and also proceeded to meet the batting coach and cricketing veteran Mohammad Yousuf. There was a short conversation between them before they went their separate ways.

Sometime back, Yousuf had sided with Kohli amid his lean patch, emphasizing that struggles across a career are inevitable for anyone. He also compared Kohli to the legendary Sachin Tendulkar.

“Every player goes through a lean patch and Virat is no different. However, he has been sensational in the last 10 years and has dominated cricket like Sachin Tendulkar,” he had said in an interaction with Pakistan news channel ARY news.

“Scoring 70 centuries is not an easy task. For me, he is the number one player in the last 10 years.” he added.

India are in Group A for the Asia Cup which also includes Hong Kong, who qualified for the multilateral tournament on Wednesday after beating the United Arab Emirates in their last match of the qualifiers. The tournament starts on August 27th with Sri Lanka up against Afghanistan.
