In a horrific incident, India wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant met with a near-fatal car accident while he was driving from Delhi to his hometown in Roorkee. He is said to be out of danger and is currently being treated at Max Hospital in Dehradun. He had sustained several gruesome injuries.

Ishan Kishan, who recently scored a double hundred against Bangladesh, was playing for Jharkhand in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season. He got to know of the incident in the match against services where Jharkand had beaten them by nine wickets. Ishan came to greet the fans after the match was finished at the Keenan stadium at Jamshedpur.

He was left completely stumped when he came to know of the event. His first reaction was “kya” (what) when the fans talked to Kishan and gave details regarding Pant’s injury. He could not believe what he had heard Kishan then added: "Kya baat kar rahe ho yaar” (What are you saying, guys!) The video of the reaction was put out by a fan on social media.

According to the doctors, Pant will take three to six months or more to recover. The ligament tear that he has sustained has kept him in bad shape. This means that Pant will not play any part in the upcoming Test series against Australia for the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Pant last played the Dhaka Test against Bangladesh.

Now, according to the DDCA director, he has undergone plastic surgery on his forehead to rectify the cut and is responding well to the treatment. Pant, the left-handed batter, suffered injuries after his car crashed into a divider while driving to Roorkee on the Delhi Dehradun highway.

“Rishabh has two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee and has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, and toe and has suffered abrasion injuries on his back. Rishabh’s condition remains stable, and he has now been shifted to Max Hospital, Dehradun, where he will undergo MRI scans to ascertain the extent of his injuries and formulate his further course of treatment,” the official statement from the Indian Cricket Board said.
