The fourth game of the Big Bash League (BBL) took place between Melbourne Stars and Hobart Hurricanes. The Melbourne Stars made a strong total of 183-5 in their 20 overs. Joe Clarke hit an unbeaten 101 off 66 balls with nine fours and four sixes.
In the second innings, the bowlers from Melbourne played well as a unit and got the wickets. Luke Wood picked up 3-25 in his four overs. Adam Zampa scalped 3-27 in his four overs and Nathan Coulter Nile picked up 2-24 in his four overs. Trent Boult had a rare off day with the ball picking 1-41 in his four-over spell.
Hobart were always up against the big total and could not stitch big partnerships when required to give themselves a chance in the chase. Mathew Wade and Tim David were the only two batters who made some notable contributions Wade scored 35 off 35 balls with one four and one six. David made 24 off 17 balls with two fours and one six.
What caught the headlines was a catch that happened in the first ball of the 20th over. Boult bowled a back-of-length ball at the stumps, and Joel Paris backed away and spliced the cut, high over the backward point region but it is to no avail. Clint Hinchcliffe runs back, tumbles and takes a good catch.
