Team India have made a proud start to their 20-20 World Cup campaign in Australia. Two wins in two matches have helped them take the number one position on the Group 2 points table.
Virat Kohli starred with the bat in the first match as he played a magnificent 82-run knock in 53 balls. In the next match against the Netherlands, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav showed their class with respective half-centuries.
However, Indian opener, KL Rahul is yet to find his form in the tournament. He got out on cheap scores in both the first two matches and it looks a bit of a concern for the team. Rahul scored 4 runs in 8 deliveries against Pakistan, while in the next match, he got leg-before for 9 off 12 deliveries.
Ahead of the big game against South Africa, Indian batters have to bat extremely well against a potent bowling unit to win the game but KL Rahul’s current form is a big concern right now. Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer, Wasim Jaffer feels that the frequent injuries haven’t helped the Indian opener to find a good rhythm but backed him to do well ahead.
"I think KL Rahul is a much better player than the numbers suggest. If you remember during our previous visit to Australia, he was in top form and after that he got injured and then again he had to come back. Therefore, it a bit difficult to maintain the same rhythm", said Jaffer while speaking on 'BatBricks7 presents Run Ki Runneeti' on CricTracker.
"You know he has been hit by injuries a couple of times. That could probably be one of the reasons, but I mean obviously the numbers are there and he would like to improve those numbers. He is a phenomenal player in Test cricket and he is even phenomenal in T20Is and One Day Internationals," he added.
