KL Rahul‘s nightmare against Pakistan continued as he was out for another low score in a big match. In the Super 12 match between India and Pakistan, Rahul was bowled out for 4 runs off 8 balls by Naseem Shah.
Rahul, chasing 160 to win, appeared jittery and nervous at the start before Naseem’s sharp inswinger cleaned him up. Rahul had been out in a similar manner in the World Cup, a year ago. He was clean-bowled by Shaheen Shah Afridi. As reactions to Rahul’s dismissal poured in, fans took to Twitter to remind him that he needed to perform in these pressure games.
Earlier, Arshdeep Singh bowled a brilliant first spell and Hardik Pandya proved his worth in the end overs as India limited Pakistan to 159 for eight in their 20-20 World Cup opener. The former took the crucial wickets of openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan in his three-wicket spell.
India’s response was disastrous, with the team’s top order collapsing early on. Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah gave Pakistan some hope after dismissing the likes of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Suryakumar Yadav. In contrast, former India captain Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya pushed the game to its limit, with Kohli (82* off 53) hammering Pakistan’s bowlers.
The all-rounder also scored runs with great responsibility. He finished with 40 runs in 37 balls before being bowled in the 20th over. Kohli, on the other hand, showed great tenacity to help India chase down 16 runs in the final five balls.
In the meantime, Twitter brutally trolled KL Rahul for his poor run in recent times. A user sarcastically said that he lived up to everyone’s expectations of not performing in the crucial game. “Thank you for matching our expectations,” he wrote.
On the other hand, a few users took out his stats in recent times. A user pointed out that he had only two two-digit scores in the last nine crucial games he had played.
