The Women's Premier League(WPL) 2024 has been changing the tides every game right now. Today was the awaited Mumbai and Bangalore rivalry we were all waiting for. It unfortunately ended in a one-sided victory for the Mumbai Indians Women. The Mumbai side had the Royal Challengers Bangalore Women on the backfoot straight away at 71-5. Even the cameos from Ellyse Perry and Georgia Wareham could only take them to a total of 131-6 after 20 overs.

The Mumbai Indians looked comfortable throughout the chase. They had already done a great job with the ball restricting the home side to a modest total. Hayley Matthews and Yastika Bhatia started with a bang putting the bowlers under pressure straight away. All the top 5 batters in the Mumbai side made sure that they keep building partnerships in the middle. In the end, it was a 7-wicket victory with Kiwi batter Amelia Kerr remaining unbeaten on 40 from 24 deliveries.

The English Kiwi duo won the game

The players who set the tone for the Mumbai Indians were skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt and Amelia Kerr. Both these star all-rounders created a solid base for the team. Nat Sciver Brunt not only scored a crucial 27 runs in the first innings but also bowled a great spell where she took big wickets of Smriti Mandhana and Sabbhineni Meghana. Amelia Kerr did not get any wickets, but her economic spell and unbeaten 40 runs were enough to keep the team in the game throughout. She also went on to win the Player of the Match for her performance as well.\

So, the RCB Women are yet to get their first win against the Mumbai franchise in the WPL since they have lost 3 in 3. This has also put the women in blue on top of the points table once again. The defending champions have made a solid comeback after the loss against the UP Warriors. There are still 4 more games to go and they will be wanting to get closer to the top 3 spot and get to the playoffs for the second consecutive time.
