The last game of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 went in favour of the Delhi Capitals. The score of 194 was set for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to chase down but it proved to be out of their reach. There were some great knocks by the Capitals batters Shafali Verma, Alice Capsey and Marizanne Kapp. This was a daunting chase for the Bangalore franchise against a great Delhi bowling attack, who have the perfect mix of seam and spin.
The RCB batters still put up a fight at the start. Openers Sophie Devine and Smriti Mandhana were in good touch on the day. Mandhana also scored her maiden fifty in WPL. Unfortunately, that was all that could be done for RCB. They were completely restricted by the Delhi Capitals bowlers and fell short by 25 runs on the day. It was one of days for RCB that they turned out to be second best and have lost their first game this season.
Wareham amazing save in the deep
There might have not been a lot of things that have gone well for the women in red, but they will like the small enjoyable moments as well. One such moment came in the 11th over of the first innings. Bowler Nadine de Clark bowled a slower ball which was in the slot. The batter was Capsey who flicked the ball in the mid-wicket region. The ball seemed to be clearing the rope, but RCB all-rounder Georgia Warehamās beautiful save on the boundary rope made sure that they were kept down to just two runs.

This fielding effort from Wareham might have not got the result in her team's favour but was still one of the iconic moments in the game. This was one of the best fielding efforts in the league till now. RCB must have lost the game, but Wareham won every fan's heart by saving 4 important runs for her side. It is efforts like this that motivate the players on the field. The Bangalore side is still looking good in the middle and will be looking to come back against the Mumbai Indians next game.
