India and Afghanistan squared off against each other in the 2nd T20I of the three-match series at Indore. After winning the first T20I comfortably India was in to seal the series and they did it even more convincingly than the last match.

India won the 2nd match in a one-sided manner with 6 wickets with 26 balls left on the back of sensational half-centuries by Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dubey. After winning the toss, Rohit Sharma elected to bowl first on a batting wicket with shorter boundary dimensions.

Indian bowlers got both the Afghanistan openers cheaply but Gulbadin Naib had some other plans. He took on the attack to the Indian bowlers and smashed a blistering 57 runs in just 35 balls. But Indian bowlers made the comeback and kept taking wickets at regular intervals and Afghanistan never looked like they would get a big score. However, Kareem Janat and Mujeeb provided the late flourish to the Afghanistan innings to take them to a competitive score of 172.

India’s dominant response

In response to the target, India again lost Rohit Sharma to a consecutive duck on the fifth ball of the innings. But after that, it will all be Yashasvi Jaiswal's show who played sensationally for his 68 runs in just 34 balls. He was soon joined in by Shivam Dubey who got his consecutive half-century against Afghanistan.

Both of them never let the Afghanistan bowlers settle at hit the ball to all parts of the ground thus making short work of the target. Karim Janat was the only shining light for Afghanistan who picked up two wickets towards the end. Apart from that it was all huge towering sixes in the 2nd innings.

India has now got an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the series and will now face Afghanistan in the 3rd match of the series at Bengaluru on 17th January. Social media was abuzz with the fireworks provided by the Indian batters in the field. Here are some of the tweets from the fans on X:
