In a video that has gained widespread attention on social media, former Pakistani cricketer Inzamam-ul-Haq has made the surprising claim that Harbhajan Singh, the well-known Indian spinner, once expressed a desire to convert to Islam. Inzamam recalled an incident where he had invited Zaheer Khan, Irfan Pathan, and Mohammed Kaif to join the Pakistani contingent for a prayer session. Harbhajan, who accompanied the trio, was reportedly deeply affected by the teachings of Maulana Tariq Jameel, a prominent Islamic scholar.

“Harbhajan once told me, 'My heart says that I should agree to whatever he (Maulana) says", Inzamam said. While Inzamam's assertion has not been independently verified, it has sparked a lively debate on social media, with many expressing their surprise and curiosity about the alleged incident.

Harbhajan today responded to the claims, deeming them as absolutely baseless. He mentioned that he was a proud Indian and Sikh and even labelled Inzamam as a 'nonsensical' person.

"Yeh kon sa nasha pee kar baat kar raha hai ? I am a proud Indian and proud Sikh..yeh Bakwaas log kuch bi bake hai", Harbhajan wrote before adding some emoticons which expressed his anger.

Inzaman recently resigned from his position as the chairman of Pakistan's men's selection committee and junior selection committee. He stepped down during a time when Pakistan were still playing in the World Cup. Eventually, they failed to qualify for the semi-finals. Inzamam faced intense criticism for his role in the team's disappointing campaign, with many questioning his selection choices and decision-making.
