The Indian Premier League(IPL) 2024 auction is just 5 days away and there are a lot of new signings and changes made by the teams. The Talk is now about Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) who have made a significant change in the leadership as Shreyas Iyer is reappointed as KKR skipper. The two-time IPL champions will be happy to have him back as he missed out in the last season due to a back injury which led to the management naming Nitish Rana as Captain.

KKR will be hoping that Iyer's comeback can make a difference since they had a rather disappointing season last season finishing 7th in the league and failing to make the final four. Iyer will look to make a difference after some decent performances in the World Cup which will give him the confidence. Nitish Rana on the other hand is still the Vice Captain for the Knight Riders and will be part of the set-up in the upcoming season.

How Iyer can make a difference

Iyer has more experience in the IPL in leading a side and led the Delhi Capitals to their first IPL final in 2020. He has also been one of the highest run-getters for KKR in the 2022 season where he scored 401 runs in 14 games which was another terrible season for the men in purple. Iyer is also a player who can accumulate runs in the middle over and put pressure on the opposition.

KKR team and management will be hoping that this change in leadership can lead to something special since the last two seasons were forgettable. With Iyer and Rana in the middle, this will bring the needed depth in the batting lineup with their fair share of powerful big hitters which they have for the backend of the innings. All this will give the Knight Riders enough hope to have a much better season.
