The Indian Premier League (IPL) auction 2024 has already made history with 2 players going over the 20 crore mark. Right now the most expensive player in IPL history is none other than Mitchell Starc who has been bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) for 24.75 cr breaking all records in IPL history. He also broke the record which was earlier set by Pat Cummins who had also gone to Sunrisers Hyderabad for 20.5 cr. This was the day when both the premium Australian quicks broke barriers in the auction with a heavy price tag.

Starc was always going to be one of the biggest buys considering his ability to bowl quickly and swing the ball and his consistent performance for Australia. Starc has had a short career in IPL, but a rather promising one as well. In his 27 IPL games, he has taken 34 wickets at an economy of 7.17. There is still the fact that he hasn’t played an IPL match since 2015 and will look to make a big return this season. It will be a treat to watch him at his best in one of the biggest franchise leagues in the world.

Why is Starc a good choice?

Mitchell Starc cannot only bowl at over 150 clicks but also make batters' life hell with the new ball. Being a left-arm pacer he is also capable of swinging the ball back into the right-hander as well. His yorkers at the death will also be an asset as well. In his peak everything Starc touches turns to gold. He can take wickets up front and at the back end. He will certainly be a bowler to look out for. With Knight Riders struggling in the pace bowling department last season, he can be the X factor.

Starc will look to give his best in the IPL and live up to everyone's expectations. The pace bowler has got tremendous ability which he would like to show in the IPL. The KKR fans will also want him to be at his best in the upcoming season with his 140+ thunderbolts and toe-crushing yorkers which will make even the best batters in the league struggle to score runs and get off the blocks.
